The waning immunity following the COVID-19 vaccination become a significant concern and the immunological dynamics of vaccine-induced antibodies after vaccination need to be explored. The aim of this study was to compare anti-SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) antibody levels before and after a booster dose with heterologous COVID-19 vaccine and to identify factors influencing the levels after receiving the booster dose. A cross-sectional study was conducted in which individuals who received primary doses of CoronaVac and a booster dose with an mRNA-based vaccine were recruited using a purposive sampling technique.

Microbiological, sensory, and chemical properties of high-quality tempeh made with instant tempeh inoculum powder.

The combination of and liquid inoculum has been successfully used to ferment soybeans into tempeh that contains β-glucan. However, using the liquid inoculum of these two microbes as a starter is impractical; so, developing an instant tempeh dry inoculum in powdered form, called the inoculum powder, for ease of use is necessary. This study aimed to determine the best concentration of instant inoculum powder to produce high-quality tempeh.

Single heartbeat ECG authentication: a 1D-CNN framework for robust and efficient human identification.

This study proposes a small one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) framework for individual authentication, considering the hypothesis that a single heartbeat as input is sufficient to create a robust system. A short segment between R to R of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals was chosen to generate single heartbeat samples by enforcing a rigid length thresholding procedure combined with an interpolation technique. Additionally, we explored the benefits of the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) to tackle the imbalance in sample distribution among individuals.

Freshwater fishes (Actinopterygii) of Kenyir Reservoir, Peninsular Malaysia: Updated checklist, taxonomic concerns and alien species.

Background: A total of 87 freshwater fish species from 30 families were recorded from the Kenyir Reservoir, Peninsular Malaysia, where 75 are native and 12 are introduced species. Few species still have unstable taxonomy identities which urge further studies. Most of the species were categorised as Least Concern (LC) and two were threatened species; Endangered and Critically Endangered (EN and CR).
