A subpopulation of the alpha-1-antitrypsin misfolding Z mutant (ATZ) is cleared from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via an ER-to-lysosome-associated degradation (ERLAD) pathway. Here, we report that the COPII subunit SEC24C and the p24-family of proteins facilitate the clearance of ATZ via ERLAD. In addition to the previously reported ERLAD components calnexin and FAM134B, we discovered that ATZ coimmunoprecipitates with the p24-family members TMP21 and TMED9.

Background The importance of measurements of body composition in terms of various indices including Body Mass Index (BMI), Body Surface Area (BSA), Body Size Index (BSI), and Waist to Height ratio (WtHR) in the diagnosis of health risks and mortality outcome analysis has largely been limited to their use relating to determining abdominal obesity. The understanding of the extent of implications of the newer, underutilized indices of body composition is deficient. Peak VO(maximal oxygen uptake) majorly serves for the evaluation of the measure of aerobic capacity.

The capture of liquid microdroplets on fibers, webs, and surfaces is important in a range of natural and industrial processes. One such application is the fibrous filtration of aerosols. Contact angle and wetting dynamics have a significant influence on capture and re-entrainment, yet there is no comprehensive model that accounts for these properties and their influence on capture efficiency.
