Photographic documentation has clinical, research, teaching and legal applications. An accurate diagnostic approach and surgical planning of dentofacial deformity requires the ability to work with reproducible and measurable photographic images.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that simulate human cognition in order to address a specific problem. The improvement in computing speed, the exponential production and the routine collection of data have led to the rapid development of AI in the health sector. In this review, we propose to provide surgeons with the essential technical elements to help them understand the possibilities offered by AI and to review the current applications of AI for oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS).

Long-term stability of basilar mandible osteotomy: Chin Wing.

The Chin Wing is a modified genioplasty extended along the basilar border and the angles of the mandible. This technique may be a better choice than standard genioplasty for correction of lip incompetence, retrogenia and high angle position associated with hyperdivergent cases. Our objective was to analyse the overall movement realized during surgery and the long-term stability of this procedure.

Spontaneous rupture of an aneurysm of the superior thyroid artery: A rare cause of acute respiratory failure.

Ruptured aneurysm of superior thyroid artery is a very rare pathological event. Underlying causes such as trauma, malignancy or iatrogenic are not systematically found. Resulting cervical hematoma is life threatening and can lead to acute respiratory failure, dysphagia, vocal cord paralysis and hemomediastinum.
