Background: The current popularity of dermal filler treatments as an alternative to invasive surgical cosmetic procedures has led to an increase in filler-related complications. Lip filler treatments are among the most sought-after injectable treatments and a thorough understanding of the complications of lip filler injections, and their management, is essential for any practitioner.

Objective: The aim of this review is to evaluate the current literature on complications secondary to lip augmentation following non-permanent dermal fillers.

The present study aimed to determine the effects of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) deletion on high fat diet-induced aortic stiffness and gut microbiota alterations. We hypothesized that a high fat diet would result in perturbation of the gut microbiota in both control and TLR4 knockout mice (TLR4), but that the absence of TLR4 signaling would protect mice from downstream vascular consequences of the high fat diet. Male control mice (CON, n=12) and TLR4 mice (KO, n=12) were fed either a standard low-fat diet (SD) or a high fat diet (HFD) (60% kcals from fat) for 6 months, after which time measurements of aortic stiffness (via pulse wave velocity [aPWV]) and gut microbiota composition (16S rRNA sequencing) were determined.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to implement and evaluate a high-quality model of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) in Sonipat, North India, focusing on achieving 8 hours of skin-to-skin contact and exclusive breastfeeding for newborns.
  • Using a mixed-methods approach, researchers conducted formative research and iterative cycles of implementation to refine the KMC model over a 12-month period.
  • Results showed significant success, with 87% of eligible babies receiving KMC at discharge, and high rates of skin-to-skin care and exclusive breastfeeding both in the hospital and at home, demonstrating the model's effectiveness in the local context.
