Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is closely associated with many aspects of disturbed metabolic health. MASLD encompasses a wide spectrum of liver diseases, ranging from isolated steatosis to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), up to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and ultimately hepatocellular carcinoma. Limited noninvasive diagnostic tools are currently available to distinguish the various stages of MASLD and as such liver biopsy remains the gold standard for MASLD diagnostics.

Integrated phenomenology and brain connectivity demonstrate changes in nonlinear processing in Jhana advanced meditation.

We present a neurophenomenological case study investigating distinct neural connectivity regimes during an advanced concentrative absorption meditation called Jhāna (ACAM-J),characterized by highly-stable attention and mental absorption. Using EEG recordings and phenomenological ratings (29 sessions) from a meditator with +20,000 hours of practice, we evaluated connectivity metrics tracking distinct large-scale neural interactions: nonlinear (WSMI and Directed Information), capturing non-oscillatory dynamics; and linear (WPLI) connectivity metrics, capturing oscillatory synchrony. Results demonstrate ACAM-J are better distinguished by non-oscillatory compared to oscillatory dynamics across multiple frequency ranges.

The farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is a nuclear receptor (NR) known to obligately heterodimerize with the retinoid X receptor (RXR). FXR is expressed as four isoforms (α1-α4) that drive transcription from IR-1 (inverted repeat-1) response elements (REs). Recently, we found that FXR isoforms α2/α4 also activate transcription from non-canonical ER-2 (everted repeat-2) REs, mediating most metabolic effects of general FXR activation.

This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the homophobia scale in students attending religion-based universities in Indonesia. This research is important as homosexuality is a controversial issue in the country and is still a topic of debate. The Homophobia Scale is a tool that assesses attitudes towards homosexuality through 17 items measuring positive affirmation, negative cognition, and the perceived threat of homosexual behavior.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of multimodal prehabilitation on delirium incidence in elderly patients undergoing elective repair for AAA.
