Unconventional Photocapacitor Utilizing Metal-Organic Dye Capable of Operating in Low Intensity Light.

The development of devices capable of storing energy harnessed from photons is on the rise, owing to the increasing global energy demand for smart systems. The majority of reports in this field cover the use of integrated type devices, which houses a separate photovoltaic module and supercapacitor or battery. Herein, we are reporting a photocapacitor with a simple two-electrode design, capable of operating without a conventional electrolyte or metal ions.

Comparison of Intraoperative Propofol-Dexmedetomidine and Ketofol-Dexmedetomidine Infusions on Recovery from Anesthesia in Patients Undergoing Endoscopic Trans-Sphenoidal Pituitary Surgeries: A Randomised Controlled Trial.

Background: A rapid and smooth emergence is essential in patients undergoing trans-sphenoidal pituitary surgeries. Ketofol has been used as an anesthetic agent with good recovery characteristics. We conducted this study to compare the recovery profile of the patients receiving propofol-dexmedetomidine or ketofol-dexmedetomidine infusions for trans-sphenoidal excision of pituitary tumours.

Therapeutic potential of ketone bodies on exercise intolerance in heart failure: looking beyond the heart.

Recent evidence suggests that ketone bodies have therapeutic potential in many cardiovascular diseases including heart failure (HF). Accordingly, this has led to multiple clinical trials that use ketone esters to treat HF patients, which we term ketone therapy. Ketone esters, specifically ketone monoesters, are synthetic compounds which, when consumed, are de-esterified into two β-hydroxybutyrate (βOHB) molecules and increase the circulating βOHB concentration.

Effect of isotonic sodium bicarbonate infusion on perioperative acid-base status among patients undergoing emergency laparotomy for perforation peritonitis (ISABEL trial): a randomized controlled trial.

Purpose: Perioperative metabolic acidosis negatively affects patient outcomes. Perioperative fluid therapy has a clinically significant effect on acid-base balance. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of isotonic sodium bicarbonate infusion (ISB) versus balanced crystalloid solution (BCS) on perioperative acid-base balance, in terms of postoperative base excess, among patients undergoing emergency laparotomy for perforation peritonitis.

In utero progression of cephaloceles: prenatal to postnatal analysis.

Objective: The natural history of cephaloceles is not well understood. The goal of this study was to better understand the natural history of fetal cephaloceles from prenatal diagnosis to the postnatal period.

Methods: Between January 2013 and April 2023, all patients evaluated with a cephalocele at the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment were identified.
