Evaluating the Impact of Direct, Direct Video, and Indirect Video Laryngoscopy Training on the Proficiency of Medical Students in Performing Direct Laryngoscopy: A High-Fidelity Manikin-Based Assessment.

Endotracheal intubation (ETI), a potentially lifesaving intervention employed frequently in the emergent setting, is a manual skill that improves with repetitive practice and high-quality feedback. Classically, ETI centered around Direct Laryngoscopy (DL); however, with the advent and recent availability of Indirect Video Laryngoscopy (IVL) and Direct Video Laryngoscopy (DVL), studies have demonstrated varying results on the benefit of Video Laryngoscopy (VL) in training. We hypothesize that a training program centered on DVL, allowing students to visualize the anatomy and simultaneously receive instructor feedback via a real-time video feed, will practically improve student performance in DL.

Background: Chiari I malformation (CMI) is characterized by inferior descent of the cerebellar tonsils through the foramen magnum and is associated with headache and neck pain. Many morphometric research efforts have aimed to describe CMI anatomy in the midsagittal plane using classical measurement techniques such as linear dimensions and angles. These methods are less frequently applied to parasagittal features and may fall short in quantifying more intricate anatomy with fewer distinct homologous landmarks.

Pavlovian extinction reduces the performance of conditioned responses and occurs when the conditioned stimulus (CS) is repeatedly presented in the absence of the unconditioned stimulus (US). However, when the CS is experienced in a context that is different from the extinction context, there is a recovery of the conditioned response, a phenomenon known as renewal. There is some evidence that the renewal of appetitive conditioning is influenced by sex, with females failing to exhibit renewed responding.

Utilization and Patient-Reported Outcomes of Direct-to-Consumer Telemedicine During the First 6 Weeks of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Largest Pediatric Ambulatory Network in New York State.

We aimed to (1) describe telemedicine utilization and usability during the first 6 weeks of the pandemic and (2) determine if usability varied by individual- or visit-level characteristics. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of ambulatory pediatric telemedicine visits occurring between March 10, 2020, and April 18, 2020, across a large academic health system. We performed manual chart review to assess individual- and visit-level characteristics and invited caregivers to respond to an adapted Telehealth Usability Questionnaire (TUQ).

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a type of interstitial lung disease that results in fibrotic lung tissue leading to symptoms of dyspnea, nonproductive cough, decreased mobility, and fatigue. This case report presents a well-documented case of a 73-year-old female presenting to a chiropractic and rehabilitation center seeking care after failing medication therapy. The patient presented hypoxic on room air with decreased mobility throughout her cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.
