In recent years, reports of infections in humans have increased. Similarly to most known Enterococci, has been identified mostly in bacteremia, urinary tract infections, infective endocarditis, and biliary tract infections. We present a case of bacteriemia associated with traumatic soft tissue infection in a 77-year-old male patient, a polytrauma victim with a tibia-fibula open fracture after a forklift accident.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe present work aimed to investigate the effect of increasing CO concentration on the growth, productivity, grain quality, and biochemical changes in quinoa and amaranth plants. An experiment was conducted in open chambers (OTCs) to evaluate the responses of these species to different levels of CO {[CO] = 400 ± 50 μmol mol CO for ambient CO concentration, [CO] = 700 ± 50 μmol mol CO for the elevated CO concentration}. Growth parameters and photosynthetic pigments reflected changes in gas exchange, saccharolytic enzymes, and carbohydrate metabolism when plants were grown under [CO].
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Studies of non-invasive treatments such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can contribute in an alternative way to the symptoms treatment and changes in sleep patterns in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), due to some scientific evidence of action on cognition and clinical characteristics.
Aim: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate studies of non-invasive brain stimulation using rTMS and tDCS on symptoms and sleep parameters in people with ADHD, in order to synthesize the main findings on intervention effects.
Methodology: A systematic review was carried out using the PRISMA protocol in the PubMed/Medline, Embase, PsycInfo, CINAHL, PEDro and Central-Cochrane library databases were initially carried out on 14 March 2024 and repeated until September 2024.
