Purpose: Nonunion of bicondylar tibial plateau (BTP) fractures following open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) is rare but challenging. We report a case series of aseptic BTP nonunions, approaches to treatment, and long-term outcomes.
Methods: Retrospective case series of aseptic nonunion in operatively treated BTP fractures.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous blood product containing concentrated platelets, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory cytokines that promote healing and regeneration. Platelets release active components through a degranulation process, which is inhibited by certain nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Current deferral guidelines are not established, but NSAIDs are expected to have a time-dose relationship with platelet inhibition.

We sought to qualitatively explore how women with diverse contraceptive experiences-including those with and without experience using SI-view the benefits and challenges of SI as compared to other methods. We conducted 241 in-depth interviews with women across four sub-Saharan African countries and found alignment between the perceived and experienced benefits of SI across our diverse sample.
