Objective: The objective of this work was to evaluate if task-specific training (TST) preceded by bilateral upper limb motor priming (BUMP) reduces upper limb impairment more than TST preceded by control priming ([CP], sham electrical stimulation) in people with chronic stroke.

Methods: In this single-blind, randomized controlled trial, 76 adults with moderate to severe upper limb hemiparesis ≥6 months post-stroke were stratified by baseline impairment and randomized to receive either BUMP or CP prior to receiving the same TST protocol. Participants completed 30 h of treatment in 15 days over 6 weeks.

Article Synopsis
  • The Pipeline Vantage embolization device is a new fourth-generation tool designed to treat intracranial aneurysms, and this study evaluates its safety and effectiveness.
  • The research involved 12 patients, primarily women, with a variety of aneurysm types, and demonstrated a 100% success rate in device deployment without intraoperative complications.
  • One postprocedural complication occurred, and the findings represent the first US analysis of this device's use in patients with intracranial aneurysms, highlighting its potential for treating both ruptured and unruptured cases.

The primary purpose of this review is to explore the green synthesis of silver nanoparticle (AgNP) using natural biomolecules derived from marine sources. This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of environmentally friendly approaches for synthesizing AgNPs and to examine their potential applications across various fields such as medicine, biotechnology, and environmental remediation. The key research question focuses on understanding how marine biomolecules, including polysaccharides, proteins, enzymes, amino acids, alkaloids, and vitamins, contribute to the formation of AgNPs and how these green-synthesized nanoparticles retain their functional properties.

Background: There is a lack of substantial evidence supporting the safety and effectiveness of endovascular thrombectomy in treating distal medium vessel occlusions (DMVOs).

Objective: To summarize the current evidence regarding endovascular thrombectomy for DMVOs.

Methods: We conducted a narrative review of key articles related to the diagnosis and management of DMVOs.

The development of a nonnoble metal-based cost-effective, efficient, and durable bifunctional electrocatalyst is crucial to achieving the goal of carbon neutrality. In this study, a structural and interfacial engineering approach is employed to design a 2D-2D hierarchical nickel MOF/nickel hydroxide-derived nickel selenide/nickel telluride dual-phase material through a single-step selenotellurization process. The rational design of highly ordered nanoarchitectures provides well-defined voids and ample pathways for ion diffusion.
