Using Human-Centred Design to Codesign Patient Engagement Tools With a Patient Advisory Council: Successes and Challenges.

Background: Co-build is one of the four pillars of the Patient Engagement Framework from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Strategy for Patient Oriented Research. Collaborating with Patient Research Partners (PRPs) using co-build approaches can enhance the applicability of healthcare tools produced. Human Centred Design (HCD), a problem-solving methodology focused on creating functional solutions for users, offers a promising approach to co-building patient engagement tools.

Claudin 1 dysregulation disrupts coronary microvascular integrity and impairs cardiac function.

Background And Aims: Claudin 1 (Cldn1) is a tight junction protein primarily known for its role in epithelial and endothelial barrier function. However, the role of Cldn1 in coronary microvascular barrier remain unclear. The aim of this study is to investigate the biological effects of Cldn1 dysregulation on coronary vascular permeability, inflammation, fibrosis, and left ventricular function.

Impact of Technology on Quality of Thoracic Multidisciplinary Cancer Conferences.

Purpose: Complex cancers require discussion at multidisciplinary cancer conferences (MCCs) to determine the best management. This study assessed the impact of a tumor board (TB)-specific information technology platform on the quality of information presented, case discussions, and care plans at thoracic MCCs.

Methods: Between September 2020 and February 2022, using a before-after study design, we prospectively collected data through direct observation of thoracic MCCs at an academic cancer center.

Cross-sectional evaluation of host biomarkers for guiding antibiotic use in bacterial and non-bacterial acute febrile illness in low- and middle-income tropical settings.

Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of 18 different host biomarkers in differentiating bacterial from non-bacterial acute febrile illness (AFI) in resource-limited settings, specifically in Brazil, Malawi and Gabon.

Design: Multinational, cross-sectional study.

Setting: The study was carried out across multiple primary healthcare facilities, including urban and rural settings, with a total of three participating centres.
