(Cb), the causative agent of Q fever, replicates within host macrophages by modulating immune responses through poorly understood mechanisms. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as critical regulators of inflammation, yet their role in Cb pathogenesis remains largely unexplored. Here, we employed a global transcriptomic approach to identify lncRNAs specific to Cb infection in THP-1 derived macrophages, compared to 15 other microbial infections.

Lung Cancer and COPD: Opportunities to Leverage Lung Cancer Screening Programs to Improve COPD Diagnostics.

Lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have many shared risk factors and not surprisingly, the two diseases often coexist. This article highlights the burden of COPD among patients with lung cancer in Ontario and explores opportunities to enhance lung cancer screening programs. We propose pursuing integrated strategies that incorporate new advances in artificial intelligence to improve disease diagnostics and navigate the complexity of caring for people with coexisting lung diseases.

Feedback in nursing practice: exploring barriers to and strategies for effective delivery.

Feedback is essential for promoting nurses' professional development and enhancing the quality of patient care. Effective feedback, in terms of delivery, content and receipt, can support nurses to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, enhance patient care and strengthen teamwork and communication. Despite its importance, however, delivering feedback can be challenging, notably due to concerns about how it will be received.

Completion Rate of Paper-Based and Electronic Patient Reported Outcome Measures in a Multidisciplinary Cancer Survivorship Clinical Setting.

Objective: Integrating Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) into clinical practice is increasing, with research showing benefits in patient outcomes. However, evidence regarding patient's acceptance of PROMs is limited. Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre (SCSC) clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic where clinicians use PROMs to guide patient consultation.

Image guided cervical brachytherapy practice patterns: 2023/2024 survey of the American brachytherapy society.

Background: An update of the 2007 and 2014 surveys of the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) will elucidate current practice patterns of cervical cancer brachytherapy.

Methods: A 40-question survey was sent to all ABS members in June-July 2023 and February 2024; 167 responses were received, with 140 used for analysis. Results were compared to the 2014 survey using chi-squared testing.
