Three-dimensional (3D) cell culture has become a consolidated method in the stem cell field, where mesenchymal stromal stem cells (MSCs) can be used to generate in vitro spheroid aggregates called MSC-Spheroids (MSph). MSph is a floating cluster of stem cells similar to those in literature are known as bone marrow-derived "mesenspheres". Even though MSC properties are shared by MSph, depending on the cell type and their tissue source, the morphology and degree of compaction of the MSph can be variable, creating limitations in such a cell model.

Apis mellifera ssp. sicula, also known as the Sicilian black honeybee, is a Slow Food Presidium that produces honey with outstanding nutraceutical properties, including high antioxidant capacity. In this study, we used high-resolution proteomics to profile the honey produced by sicula and identify protein classifiers that distinguish it from that made by the more common Italian honeybee (Apis mellifera ssp.

Article Synopsis
  • Articular cartilage has limited regenerative abilities and existing treatments mainly provide temporary pain relief, spurring interest in tissue engineering.
  • This study focused on the potential of adipose stromal cells to form spheroids and differentiate into cartilage-like structures for improved cartilage repair.
  • Spheroids created using 3D chips showed promising characteristics and maturation, indicating they could be effective in developing cartilage organoids for future clinical applications, including personalized therapies.

The possible association between human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and negative pregnancy outcomes has been debated in the literature, with conflicting results from clinical trials. While some authors support a link between HPV and miscarriage, others argue that the mere detection of the virus does not necessarily indicate a causal relationship with negative pregnancy outcomes. In this study, we conducted a prospective, controlled investigation of the potential association between HPV infection and miscarriage.

Few studies have focused on elderly (>80 years) amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients, who represent a fragile subgroup generally not included in clinical trials and often neglected because they are more difficult to diagnose and manage. We analyzed the clinical and genetic features of very late-onset ALS patients through a prospective, population-based study in the Emilia Romagna Region of Italy. From 2009 to 2019, 222 (13.
