African rhinoceros undergo chemical immobilization and prolonged transport during translocations for conservation purposes and, hence, experience several pathophysiologic changes, including skeletal muscle injury. Potential concurrent myocardial injury has not been investigated due to a lack of validated immunoassays. We aimed to use inferred cardiac troponin I (cTnI) amino acid sequences of southern white () and southern-central black () rhinoceros to assess the potential usefulness of several commercial cTnI immunoassays for detecting cTnI in African rhinoceros.

Background: Migratory bats perform seasonal movements between their summer and winter areas. When crossing ecological barriers, like the open sea, they are exposed to an increased mortality risk due to energetically demanding long-distance flights and unexpected inclement weather events. How such barriers affect bat migratory movements is still poorly known.

Thoracic splenosis is a rare condition referring to the auto-transplantation of splenic tissue into the thoracic cavity following splenic trauma. We present a case of thoracic splenosis in a 62-year-old man who at the age of 17 suffered three gunshot wounds to the posterior thorax and abdomen, requiring a splenectomy and intercostal catheter insertion. In 2007, he underwent a thoracotomy and biopsy of a left sided pulmonary mass which was complicated by a haemothorax requiring an emergent return to theatre and rib resection to achieve haemostasis.

The Hodgkin lymphoma International Study for Individual Care (HoLISTIC) Consortium's A-HIPI model, developed in 2022 for advanced-stage classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), predicts survival within 5 years amongst newly diagnosed patients. This study validates its performance in the Brazilian Hodgkin lymphoma registry. By 2022, the Brazilian HL registry included 1357 cHL patients, with a median 5-year follow-up.
