Case report: Metastatic -mutated adult Wilms' tumor with robust response to inhibitor therapy.

Nephroblastoma or Wilms' tumor (WT) is the most common pediatric renal malignancy but rare in adults. Treatment protocols for adults are typically extrapolated from pediatric guidelines, but there are no standard guidelines for adults due to the rarity of the disease. However, next-generation sequencing has led to new therapeutic options for adult WT patients.

Hypoglycaemia requiring medical assistance in patients with diabetes: a prospective multicentre survey in tertiary hospitals.

Aim: Hypoglycaemia is considered a factor contributing to morbidity and mortality in patients with diabetes. The aim of the present study was to examine the frequency, clinical characteristics, predisposing factors and outcomes of iatrogenic hypoglycaemia requiring medical assistance.

Methods: Eight hospitals participated in this prospective survey of documented iatrogenic hypoglycaemia at their emergency departments.

Selective removal of protecting groups under different cleavage mechanisms could be an asset in peptide synthesis, since it provides the feasibility to incorporate different functional groups in similar reactive centres. However, selective protection/deprotection of orthogonal protecting groups in peptides is still challenging, especially for Cys-containing peptides, where protection of the cysteine side-chain is mandatory since the nucleophilic thiol can be otherwise alkylated, acylated or oxidized. Herein, we established a protocol for the synthesis of Cys-selective S-Trt or S-Mmt protected Cys-containing peptides, in a rapid way.

Unifying model of carpal mechanics based on computationally derived isometric constraints and rules-based motion - the stable central column theory.

This study was part of a larger project to develop a (kinetic) theory of carpal motion based on computationally derived isometric constraints. Three-dimensional models were created from computed tomography scans of the wrists of ten normal subjects and carpal spatial relationships at physiological motion extremes were assessed. Specific points on the surface of the various carpal bones and the radius that remained isometric through range of movement were identified.

High spatial resolution MRI of cystic adventitial disease of the iliofemoral vein communicating with the hip joint.

Venous cystic adventitial disease (CAD) is an extremely rare entity, and so far less than 20 cases have been described in the literature. Herein, we describe the imaging findings of CAD of iliofemoral vein in a 51-year-old woman who presented with leg swelling with special emphasis on high spatial resolution MRI, which demonstrated communication of the cyst with the hip joint. To our knowledge, this is the first description of high spatial resolution MRI findings in venous CAD supporting a new theory about the pathogenesis of venous CAD.
