Background: Arterial hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy and remodeling are independent cardiovascular risk factors in patients with Cushing's syndrome. Changes in the renin-angiotensin system and in the mineralocorticoid axis activity could be involved as potential mechanisms in their pathogenesis, in addition to cortisol excess.
Methods: In this ancillary study of our previous study prospectively investigating patients with ACTH-dependent Cushing's syndrome by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (NCT02202902), 11 patients without any interfering medication were cross-sectionally compared to 20 control subjects matched for age, sex and body mass index.
Background And Importance: Prolonged emergency medical services' response times (EMS-RT) are associated with poorer outcomes in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). The patient access time interval (PATI), from vehicle stop until contact with patient, may be increased in areas with low socioeconomic status (SES).
Objectives: The objective of this study is to identify predictors of prolonged EMS-RT intervals, and to evaluate associations with clinical outcomes in OHCAs occurring in the largest metropolitan area in France.
Snake venoms are complex mixtures of toxic proteins that hold significant medical, pharmacological and evolutionary interest. To better understand the genetic diversity underlying snake venoms, we developed VenomCap, a novel exon-capture probe set targeting toxin-coding genes from a wide range of elapid snakes, with a particular focus on the ecologically diverse and medically important subfamily Hydrophiinae. We tested the capture success of VenomCap across 24 species, representing all major elapid lineages.

The French Military Health Service has developed a Psychological First Aid Training in Operation (PFATO) course based on relational simulations, for military service members. The aim is to identify the early signs of psychological distress in a comrade and to adopt an adapted and protective attitude.

Models built from structured elicitation with large diverse expert panels can contribute to more consistent and transparent decision-making.
