Article Synopsis
  • Podoconiosis is a little-known form of lymphoedema with uncertain global distribution, and recent studies aimed to assess its presence in Guatemala and Idukki District, India.
  • In Guatemala, researchers visited municipalities with suspected cases and ruled out podoconiosis in all examined cases, while in Idukki District, a large survey identified other causes of lower limb swelling, confirming no cases of podoconiosis.
  • The findings suggest that podoconiosis is not currently endemic in either Guatemala or Idukki District, indicating potential success in addressing this health issue.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focuses on functionalizing ZnO nanoflowers with various hybrid organic molecules to enhance their sensing capabilities for detecting benzylamine vapors in visible light conditions.
  • - Four different porphyrin-conjugated molecules were used for functionalization, resulting in significant improvement in gas adsorption and sensitivity of the sensors, especially with the ZnTP functionalized variant.
  • - Testing revealed a linear increase in response to varying concentrations of benzylamine, leading to high sensitivity (0.0292 ppm) and a low detection limit (197 ppb), supported by theoretical calculations on gas adsorption.

The field of environmental and water remediation faces a significant challenge in removing organic dyes from wastewater, particularly Rhodamine B (RhB), a stubborn dye used in various industries. Traditional treatment methods struggle with its resistance to decomposition, posing risks to water quality, human health, and aquatic life. This study demonstrates a novel approach to enhance photocatalytic efficiency for RhB degradation by constructing a MOF-5/g-CN composite through a facile mechanical grinding method, which is unprecedented.

Background: The preservation of semen quality and kinematic characteristics during cryopreservation is crucial for the reproductive success and genetic management of livestock, particularly in Bali bulls.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effect of adding purified green tea extract antioxidant Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in tris egg yolk diluent on the quality and kinematic characteristics of frozen semen from Bali bulls.

Methods: Fresh and frozen semen samples were obtained from Bali bull and divided into four different treatment groups.
