Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) are endogenous molecules released in tissues upon cellular damage and necrosis, acting to initiate sterile inflammation. Constitutive DAMPs (cDAMPs) have the particularity to be present within the intracellular compartments of healthy cells, where they exert diverse functions such as regulation of gene expression and cellular homeostasis. However, after injury to the central nervous system (CNS), cDAMPs are rapidly released by stressed, damaged or dying neuronal, glial and endothelial cells, and can trigger inflammation without undergoing structural modifications.

B cells and T cells collaborate in multiple sclerosis (MS) pathogenesis. IgH mice possess a B cell repertoire skewed to recognize myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG). Here, we show that upon immunization with the T cell-obligate autoantigen, MOG, IgH mice develop rapid and exacerbated experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) relative to wildtype (WT) counterparts, characterized by aggregation of T and B cells in the IgH meninges and by CD4 T helper 17 (Th17) cells in the CNS.

The sleep-wake cycle regulates interstitial fluid and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tau levels in both mouse and human by mechanisms that remain unestablished. Here, we reveal a novel pathway by which wakefulness increases extracellular tau levels in mouse and humans. In mice, higher body temperature (BT) associated with wakefulness and sleep deprivation increased CSF tau.

The image formation in coded aperture spectral imagers is key information for processing the acquired compress data, and the optical system design and calibration of these instruments require great care. We propose an analytical model for CASSI systems that builds upon ray-tracing equations of each optical component. The model takes into account optical distortions, sampling effects, and optical misalignments, and allows accurate modeling and fast calibration.
