Apoptosis is a common mechanism of programmed cell death in virtually all nucleated cells. In spite of the fact that platelets and erythrocytes are the only enucleated cells in mammals they contain most of the apoptosis machinery of other cells and undergo similar apoptotic processes as nucleated cells except those connected with nuclear and chromatin transformation. Here we compare the mechanisms of platelet and erythrocytes apoptosis induced by different stimuli namely, stimulation ofthrombin and collagen receptor (T/C), inhibitor of BclX family proteins (ABT-373) for platelets, tert-butylhydroperoxide (tBH) and calcium ionophore (A-23187) for erythrocytes.

Microanatomy of nephrons during ontogenesis has been studied in domestic hens. In the bird kidneys, as well as in mammalian kidneys, three populations of nephrons can be detected: juxtamedullary, or deep nephrons, superficial and situating between them intracortical nephrons. In formation of the bird renal medulla only loops of the juxtamedullary nephrons participate.

In the frog, like in mammals, platinum is accumulated in the proximal tubules. As evidenced by electron microscopy, the platinum content is correlated with the degree of deterioration of cell ultrastructure.

Intra-abdominal injections of platinum, chromium and cadmium salts to Myoxocephalus scorpius produce nephrotoxic effect which includes the disturbances in magnesium secretion. Basic ultrastructural changes in the nephron cells of the fish after the injection of nephrotoxic substances are similar to those in mammals. Cis-platinum induces significant damage in the terminal part of the proximal tubules.

Injection of various doses of cisplatin to 2-14-day chick embryos showed that within 2-8 days of incubation cisplatin produces total toxic effect, the number of dead embryos being dependent on a dose of the drug. Within 9-16 days of incubation, i.e.
