Purpose: To develop a simple tool to remove retained submacular perfluorocarbon liquid bubbles (R-PFCL) and to inject recombinant tissue plasminogen activator safely in subretinal space in submacular hematomas.

Method: A retrospective, interventional study was performed where a simple homemade micro-viscous fluid control was developed to gain access to subretinal space in a controlled way. The rubber cap of the plunger of a 1-mL syringe was cut; this cut rubber cap of the plunger was fitted inside an empty 1-mL tuberculin syringe, and its end was fitted with the tubings of viscous fluid control of the vitrectomy machine.

Social contact surveys are an important tool to assess infection risks within populations, and the effect of non-pharmaceutical interventions on social behaviour during disease outbreaks, epidemics, and pandemics. Numerous longitudinal social contact surveys were conducted during the COVID-19 era, however data analysis is plagued by reporting fatigue, a phenomenon whereby the average number of social contacts reported declines with the number of repeat participations and as participants' engagement decreases over time. Using data from the German COVIMOD Study between April 2020 to December 2021, we demonstrate that reporting fatigue varied considerably by sociodemographic factors and was consistently strongest among parents reporting children contacts (parental proxy reporting), students, middle-aged individuals, those in full-time employment and those self-employed.

2D Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskites, upon inclusion of a chiral amine, exhibit chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS). Although alloying at the halogen site in MBA-based RPs (MBA: methylbenzylammonium) is one of the suitable routes to tune the CISS effect, the mixed-halide RP perovskites exhibited complete suppression of chirality when probed through circular dichroism (CD). Here, we present the CISS effect in a series of mixed-halide RP perovskites.

Objective: To analyze part of the mechanism of electroacupuncture on Sishencong (EX-HN1) for stroke-related sleep disorders (SSD) and post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI).

Methods: Using a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design, 72 patients were assigned to the electro-acupuncture (EA) group or the sham acupuncture (SA) group. A healthy control (HC) group was also included.

Article Synopsis
  • * Out of 208 pork samples collected over four years, 23.07% tested positive for Salmonella, primarily the serovars Infantis, Typhimurium, and Derby, with high rates of multidrug resistance.
  • * The research calls for improved surveillance and control measures in pork production to address antibiotic resistance and mitigate the risk of foodborne illnesses linked to contaminated meat.
