In this process, photoactivation of dihydropyridine thio(seleno)esters is integrated with regioselective hydrometalation of alkenes, avoiding photoinduced Pd-C bond homolysis of organopalladium intermediates. Additionally, a regioselective hydroselenocarbonylation of an alkene is accomplished for the first time using a bench-stable selenoester reagent.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFHerein, we report a formal C-C bond azidation and cyanation of unactivated aliphatic ketones using commercially available tosyl azide and cyanide, respectively. A visible-light-mediated organophotocatalyst enables radical azidation and cyanation of ketone-derived pro-aromatic dihydroquinazolinones (under mostly redox-neutral conditions) as supported by preliminary mechanistic studies. These metal-free and scalable protocols can be used to synthesize tertiary, secondary, and primary alkyl azides and nitriles with good functional group tolerance and postsynthetic diversification of the azide group, including bioconjugation.

Efficient bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts, capable of catalyzing both the ORR and OER, are essential for the operation of rechargeable ZABs. Traditional Pt- and RuO/IrO-based catalysts are not ideal, as they lack sufficient bifunctional ORR and OER activity, exhibit limited long-term durability, require high overpotentials and are expensive.

Additionally, staff in these facilities have been working under challenging conditions, often ill-equipped in terms of both training and resources to successfully manage the outbreaks of these illnesses. This paper examines the actions of an Australian public health unit to improve influenza outbreak management in residential aged care facilities and critiques the outcomes through a contemporary lens.
