Purpose: Parathyroid imaging with dual-phase technetium-99m methoxyisobutrylizonitrile (Tc-99m MIBI) scintigraphy serves as an important prerequisite for the identification of hyperfunctioning parathyroid gland(s) in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) for a successful targeted parathyroidectomy. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical value of additional lateral imaging and single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) versus conventional planar imaging for locating parathyroid pathologies in patients with PHPT.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective review was performed on 105 patients who underwent dual-phase Tc-99m MIBI scintigraphy and were surgically treated by parathyroidectomy.

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare type of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that commonly presents with constitutional symptoms, lymphadenopathy, and laboratory abnormalities. Although less common, extranodal involvement of MCL may be seen at initial presentation and most commonly occurs in the spleen, liver, bone marrow, and gastrointestinal tract. Adrenal involvement in MCL is extremely rare, and only a few cases have been reported in the literature.

Article Synopsis
  • 18 F-FDG PET/CT is commonly used for diagnosing adenocarcinoma, but its effectiveness is inconsistent for mucinous adenocarcinoma.
  • 68 Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT might provide valuable insights for evaluating mucinous adenocarcinoma due to tumor blood flow and receptor expression.
  • The text discusses a rare case where a patient with metastatic mucinous adenocarcinoma showed 68 Ga-DOTATATE uptake, highlighting a potential new approach in imaging.
