Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess von Willebrand Factor (vWF) levels in plasma and urine protein/creatinine ratios in patients with idiopathic sudden acute hearing loss believed to be due to epithelial dysfunction.
  • Thirty patients with sudden hearing loss were compared to thirty healthy controls through blood and urine tests before treatment.
  • Results indicated significantly higher vWF levels in patients, while urine protein/creatinine ratios were elevated but not significantly; patients responding to treatment had lower vWF and urine protein levels, suggesting potential endothelial dysfunction as a cause of hearing loss.
