Background: Tracheal stenosis is a major complication of tracheostomy. Accordingly, anesthesiologists tend to select a smaller endotracheal tube (ETT) than usual for patients with a prior tracheostomy history, regardless of the presence or absence of respiratory symptoms. However, it likely comes from our trial and error, not scientific evidence.

We hypothesized that IUC use might increase the postoperative incidence of altered mental status and/or urinary catheter infection.
Materials And Methods: In this retrospective single-center cohort study, we analyzed the data of adult patients undergoing surgery at our facility between January 2013 and December 2018.
Purpose: Many studies have investigated the relationship of the lumican gene () rs3759223 variant with the risk of high myopia, but the results have been inconsistent and inconclusive. In this study, we investigated whether rs3759223 is associated with high myopia in a Japanese population.
Methods: We recruited 1,585 Japanese patients with high myopia (spherical equivalent [SE] <-9.
RNA fragments corresponding to the mirror tRNA that is located upstream of the cytochrome oxidase I (COXI) gene in the mouse mitochondrial genome were found in the sequences obtained from the mouse brain by the next generation sequencing. RNA fragments corresponding to the 5' terminal of COXI mRNA were also found and it was suggested that the precursor of the COXI mRNA is processed at three residues upstream of the first AUG codon. The mirror tRNA fragment has poly(A) in its 3' terminal and variable 5' terminal, suggesting that this RNA is produced during the 5' processing of COXI mRNA.

Sequences of structured RNAs were effectively clustered and analyzed by secondary structure. Although more than 99% of the obtained sequences were known RNAs, 16 candidate mouse structured small non-coding RNAs (MsncRs) were isolated.
