Type 2 diabetes is a major health concern contributing to most of diabetic cases worldwide. Mangiferin and its congeners are known for their diverse pharmacological properties. This study sought to investigate the inhibitory property of naturally occurring mangiferin congeners on sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 protein (SGLT-2) using comprehensive computational methods.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic across Africa: Current Status of Vaccinations and Implications for the Future.

The introduction of effective vaccines in December 2020 marked a significant step forward in the global response to COVID-19. Given concerns with access, acceptability, and hesitancy across Africa, there is a need to describe the current status of vaccine uptake in the continent. An exploratory study was undertaken to investigate these aspects, current challenges, and lessons learnt across Africa to provide future direction.

A multicentre point prevalence study of antibiotics utilization in hospitalized patients in an urban secondary and a tertiary healthcare facilities in Nigeria: findings and implications.

Objectives: The understanding of antimicrobial utilization patterns is pertinent to successful implementation of the National Action Plans on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). There is, however, limited information on antibiotics utilization in Nigeria. This study was undertaken to build on existing information and provide direction for appropriate interventions including Antibiotics Stewardship Programs (ASP).

Chronic kidney disease in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Chronic kidney disease has been observed to be a major threat to the world's health, and in some African countries, it is a death sentence. It affects economically productive young adults between the ages of 20-50 in Sub-Saharan Africa as against the middle age and elderly in the developed world. Challenges of renal care in Africa are numerous among which are equity, accessibility, financial constraint, and lack of workforce to mention a few.

Medication errors among health professionals in Nigeria: A national survey.

Background: Medication errors are preventable causes of patient harm with significant contributions to adverse drug events but they remain understudied in Nigeria.

Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of self-reported medication errors among health professionals and examine their knowledge of medication errors with the hope of identifying appropriate measures to promote medication safety.

Methods: A cross sectional survey among doctors, pharmacists and nurses in 10 tertiary hospitals.
