The glioblastoma (GBM) microenvironment is enriched in immunosuppressive factors that potently interfere with the function of cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Cancer cells can directly impact the immune system, but the mechanisms driving these interactions are not completely clear. Here we demonstrate that the polyamine metabolite spermidine (SPD) is elevated in the GBM tumor microenvironment.

Background: The Public Health Department became aware of infections with in a total of nine people who had visited the same barbershop.

Method: Official hygiene monitoring of the barbershop was performed on an event-related basis, during which compliance with the requirements of the "Schleswig-Holstein State Ordinance on the Prevention of Communicable Diseases (Hygiene Ordinance)" was checked. In addition, hygienic-microbiological environmental examinations of materials and surfaces were performed in cooperation with the Department of Dermatology at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel Campus.

This is a single arm, open label perioperative trial to assess the feasibility, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of treatment with safusidenib following biopsy, and prior to surgical resection in patients with mutated glioma who have not received radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Fifteen participants will receive treatment in two parts. First, biopsy followed by one cycle (28 days) of safusidenib, an orally available, small molecular inhibitor of mutated IDH1, then maximal safe resection of the tumor (Part A).

Background: Hyaluronidase is an ubiquitous enzyme, present, among others, in hymenoptera venom and in medical formulations. The latter include use as an emergency treatment or to correct undesired outcomes of medical and aesthetic procedures using hyaluronic acid fillers.

Objectives: By performing detailed allergy work-ups including skin-prick tests (SPTs) we investigated whether patients with a history of allergic reaction to hymenoptera venom are also sensitized to medical grade hyaluronidase.
