Simulating the ozone variability at regional scales using chemistry transport models (CTMs) remains a challenge. We designed a multi-model intercomparison to evaluate, for the first time, four regional CTMs on a national scale for Germany. Simulations were conducted with LOTOS-EUROS, REM-CALGRID, COSMO-MUSCAT and WRF-Chem for January 1 to December 31, 2019, using prescribed emission information.

We consider a multi-species reaction-diffusion system that arises in epidemiology to describe the spread of several strains, or variants, of a disease in a population. Our model is a natural spatial, multi-species, extension of the classical SIR model of Kermack and McKendrick. First, we study the long-time behavior of the solutions and show that there is a "selection via propagation" phenomenon: starting with N strains, only a subset of them - that we identify - propagates and invades space, with some given speeds that we compute.

Rationale: Stimulant use, including cocaine, often occurs in a social context whose influence is important to understand to decrease intake and reduce associated harms. Although the importance of social influence in the context of drug addiction is known, there is a need for studies assessing its neurobiological substrate and for translational research.

Objectives: Here, we explored the influence of peer presence and familiarity on cocaine intake and its neurobiological basis.

Mature mammalian CNS neurons often do not recover successfully following injury. To this point, unilateral lesion of the hypothalamo-neurohypophysial tract results in collateral sprouting from uninjured axons of the supraoptic nucleus (SON) in 35-day-old but not in 125-day-old rats. Thus, it appears that there are age-related changes within the SON that preclude the older rat from recovering following axotomy.
