Background Despite the time-honored concept that a normal serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) indicates that there is euthyroidism in all tissues, there is accumulating evidence questioning this notion. This could explain why a subset of patients remain symptomatic despite treatment with levothyroxine.
