Objective: To describe the continuing education strategies implemented as part of the academic training of health workers; related barriers and facilitators; and the perceptions of health workers in sentinel hospitals in Honduras regarding changes in their knowledge.
Methods: The implemented continuing education strategies are described, as are the findings of a questionnaire given to assess health workers' perceptions of the effectiveness of these strategies in the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the surveillance of events supposedly attributable to vaccination, immunization, or adverse events of special interest. Barriers to participation in these strategies is also described.
Background: The objective of this study was to understand health care providers' perspectives regarding the facilitators of and barriers to the success of the former Pap and VIA-based cervical cancer program in Iquitos, Peru, using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) to inform the transition to the HPV screen-and-treat intervention. By exploring the pre-implementation organizational context, or inner setting, through the opinions of those who would implement the HPV-based intervention at the patient care level, this research lays the foundation to assess readiness before implementation and understand what's necessary to design contextually appropriate and sustainable interventions in LMIC settings.
Methods: We conducted 19 semi-structured interviews with health professionals (12 nurse-midwives, 4 doctors, and 3 laboratory technicians) who administered the former Pap- and VIA-based cervical cancer EDT program.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel lipoformulation was developed by encapsulating cationic (S^C)-cyclometallated gold(III) complex [Au(dppta)(NPy-PZ-dtc)] (AuPyPZ) in liposomes. The liposomal form of compound AuPyPZ has a bactericidal action similar to that of the free drug without any appreciable effect on the viability of mammalian cells. Furthermore, the nanoformulation reduces metalloantibiotic-induced inhibition of hERG and the inhibition of cytochromes, significantly decreasing the potential liabilities of the metallodrug.
