Objectives: Cognitive abilities might be impaired due to brain lesions in children and adolescents. This study aimed to investigate neuropsychiatric indicators in children and adolescents with primary brain tumors and other brain space-occupying lesions (SOLs) before and after the surgical procedure.
Materials & Methods: The current pre-post study was conducted on 81 patients with brain SOLs aged under 18 years hospitalized in the Neurosurgery Ward of Imam Reza university hospital, Tabriz, Iran, within 20 December 2016 to 20 December 2017.
Wolbachia is an endosymbiotic bacterium found in many species of arthropods and manipulates its host reproduction. Cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI) is one of the most common manipulations that is induced when an uninfected female mates with a Wolbachia-infected male. The CI factors (cifA and cifB genes) are encoded by phage WO that naturally infects Wolbachia.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic allergen/immune-mediated disease leading to esophageal dysfunction. Food allergens play critical roles in the pathogenesis and treatment of EoE via different mechanisms. This study aimed to present the characteristics and evaluate the ability of skin prick test (SPT), skin prick to prick test (SPP) (IgE-mediated), and atopic patch test (APT) (cell-mediated) individually or simultaneously to diagnose food allergy in patients suffering from EoE.

Seizure onset detection with minimum latency has a key role in improving the therapy studies of epilepsy. In this article, an epileptic seizure onset detection algorithm based on general tensor discriminant analysis is proposed to detect the seizure through EEG signals with smallest delay before the development of clinical symptoms. In this algorithm, seizure and nonseizure EEG signal epochs are exhibited by spectral, spatial, and temporal domains (third-order tensors) in wavelet decomposition.

In this algorithm, spectral and spatial features are selected from seizure and non-seizure EEG signals by Gabor functions and principal component analysis (PCA). Furthermore, four features based on heart rate acceleration are extracted from ECG signals to form feature vector.
