Background/aim: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is gaining recognition for its potential to improve survival outcomes, with combined neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapies under investigation. However, the prognostic significance of post-chemotherapy pathological staging (ypStage) on recurrence-free survival (RFS) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the utility of ypStage, ypT, ypN classification, and histological response rate in predicting recurrence after gastrectomy.

Single-cell spatial omics analysis requires consideration of biological functions and mechanisms in a microenvironment. However, microenvironment analysis using bioinformatic methods is limited by the need to detect histological morphology and extend it to the surrounding area. In this study, we developed SpatialKNifeY (SKNY), an image-processing-based toolkit that detects spatial domains that potentially reflect histology and extends these domains to the microenvironment.

Herein, we report a novel photocatalytic tandem Ueno-Stork cyclization/intermolecular Giese addition sequence for the stereoselective difunctionalization of allylic alcohols. This reaction avoids the use of toxic reagents and complicated protocols typically required under classical Ueno-Stork conditions. Furthermore, the reaction system demonstrated good stereoselectivity with both cyclic and linear allylic alcohols.

Introduction: Transurethral prostate surgery is the standard procedure for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), while the efficacy of surgical treatment for patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) remains unclear. This study was conducted to evaluate the usefulness of transurethral enucleation with bipolar (TUEB) of the prostate for BPH patients with CP/CPPS.

Methods: Between February 2018 and May 2024, 53 BPH patients with CP/CPPS underwent TUEB of the prostate at our institution and were followed for more than three months.
