Early administration of caplacizumab combined with plasma exchange for thrombotic microangiopathy due to malignant hypertension: a case report.

Both thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) and malignant hypertension (MHT) present with thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). Combination therapy with caplacizumab, anti-von Willebrand factor (VWF) A1 domain antibody, and plasma exchange (PE) has recently been highlighted as a novel therapeutic option for TTP. We treated a 51-year-old woman who showed severe hypertension, retinopathy, and acute kidney injury.

Purpose: The energy threshold is an important parameter for precise material identification employing photon-counting techniques. However, in such applications, the appropriate energy threshold has not been clarified. Therefore, we aimed to determine the appropriate energy threshold range for precise material identification, focusing on effective atomic number (Z) values as an index.

Development of new anticoagulants targeting coagulation factor XI and prospects for clinical use.

Thrombosis is a potentially fatal condition for which various anticoagulant therapies have been used for prevention and treatment. However, bleeding events remain a concern with all anticoagulant drugs. Recent evidence suggests that inhibiting coagulation factor XI (FXI) and activated FXI (FXIa) plays a greater role in the formation of pathological thrombi in thrombosis than in normal hemostatic thrombi, allowing for the potential to address these two events separately.

Characteristics of patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who do not respond to axitinib treatment.

Background: Axitinib is a widely used tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) treatment. Here, we analyzed the characteristics of patients who did not respond to axitinib and evaluated alternative options for their treatment.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data for 449 patients with mRCC who were administered axitinib following another TKI as initial therapy.

[A Case of Needle Tract Seeding Discovered Three Years after Pancreatic Cancer Surgery and Treated with Local Gastrectomy].

A 70s-year-old man with pancreatic body cancer underwent evaluation by endoscopic-ultrasound guided tissue acquisition(EUS-TA), followed by distal pancreatectomy. Histopathological findings showed a well differentiated pT3N0M0 adenocarcinoma. Adjuvant S-1 chemotherapy was completed, and annual upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed.
