While animal model studies have extensively defined the mechanisms controlling cell diversity in the developing mammalian lung, there exists a significant knowledge gap with regards to late-stage human lung development. The NHLBI Molecular Atlas of Lung Development Program (LungMAP) seeks to fill this gap by creating a structural, cellular and molecular atlas of the human and mouse lung. Transcriptomic profiling at the single-cell level created a cellular atlas of newborn human lungs.

All interviewees expressed that participating in the program yielded benefits for themselves and their children.

The osteogenic effect of a composite electrospun core-shell nanofiber membrane encapsulated with Emdogain (EMD) was evaluated. The membrane was developed through coaxial electrospinning using polycaprolactone as the shell and polyethylene glycol as the core. The effects of the membrane on the osteogenic differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) were examined using Alizarin Red S staining and qRT-PCR.
