Solid-state hydrogen storage outperforms conventional storage methods in terms of safety and on-board applications. Porous Si (PS) is the optimized Si nanostructure with ample surface area (∼400 m g) and maximum dangling sites for hydrogenation. Though solid-state hydrogen storage in Si nanostructures, especially in porous Si, is extensively studied, the thermal desorption of hydrogen is rarely reported.

Objectives: The persistence and outcomes following myocardial injury subsequent to coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection has not been properly elucidated. We assessed sub-clinical bi-ventricular dysfunction using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) in post COVID-19 patients.

Methods: A total of 189 subjects following recovery from COVID-19 infection were enrolled.

Article Synopsis
  • Culotte stenting is a treatment method for bifurcation lesions of the left main coronary artery that has proven effective but can lead to side branch restenosis due to gaps at the ostium.
  • A study found that performing sequential kissing balloon dilation before main vessel stenting can help prevent these gaps, which is important for successful outcomes.
  • In a report of 45 patients treated with double kissing mini-culotte stenting, there were no major adverse events, and the procedure showed low rates of complications and side branch restenosis at the one-year follow-up.

The microbial enzyme diaminopimelate epimerase (DapF), a vital enzyme in the lysine biosynthetic pathway, catalyzes the conversion of L, L-diaminopimelate (L, L-DAP) to D, L-diaminopimelate (D, L-DAP) using a catalytic cysteine dyad with one cysteine in thiol state and another in thiolate. Under oxidizing conditions, the catalytic cysteines of apo DapF form a disulfide bond that alters the structure and function of DapF. Given its potential as a target for antimicrobial resistance treatments, understanding DapF's functional dynamics is imperative.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the differences in risk factors and outcomes for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients under 50 years compared to those 50 and older in North India.
  • Among the 5,335 patients studied, young patients attended the hospital earlier, displayed higher rates of physical inactivity and alcohol use, but had lower rates of diabetes and hypertension compared to older patients.
  • Despite a higher prevalence of tobacco use, young STEMI patients experienced lower in-hospital and 30-day mortality rates, primarily due to better heart function upon admission.
