Although the global benefits of gastrostomy have been proven in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the impact on biological parameters has not been explored yet. The aim of this preliminary work was to evaluate the modification of biological parameters in patients with ALS undergoing gastrostomy. We present the case of a 43-year-old man with acute visual loss due to an optic chiasm cavernoma. Our clinical and imaging findings quickly led us to this diagnosis. As a clinical improvement spontaneously occurred soon after the initial diagnosis, we decided not to perform any surgical treatment.
