Unlabelled: The concept of genome-microbiome interactions, in which the microenvironment determined by host genetic polymorphisms regulates the local microbiota, is important in the pathogenesis of human disease. In otolaryngology, the resident bacterial microbiota is reportedly altered in non-infectious ear diseases, such as otitis media pearls and exudative otitis media. We hypothesized that a single-nucleotide polymorphism in the ATP-binding cassette sub-family C member 11 () gene, which determines earwax properties, regulates the ear canal microbiota.

Treatment of IIMs is challenging, with few effective therapeutic options due to the lack of appropriate models that successfully recapitulate the features of IIMs observed in humans. In the present study, we demonstrate that immunodeficient mice transplanted with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (hPBMCs) exhibit the key pathologic features of myositis observed in humans and develop graft-versus-host disease.

We report a case of acute focal bacterial nephritis (AFBN) and bacteremia caused by following an upper respiratory infection in a pediatric patient. The patient, a four-year-old girl, presented with fever, cough, and a runny nose two days before being referred to our hospital due to persistent fever and poor oral intake.

The rare sugar D-allulose has anti-obesity effects that are mediated by the suppression of hepatic lipogenesis. In this study, we examined the anti-obesity effects of a combination of WBV and dietary D-allulose in rats fed a high-fat diet.

Sarcoid-like reactions occur in patients who do not fulfill the diagnostic criteria for sarcoidosis but present with similar clinical and histological features. An 80-year-old man presented to our hospital with several subcutaneous nodules on the extremities.
