Background: While R-CHOP has been one of the standard therapies for untreated high-tumor-burden (HTB) follicular lymphoma (FL) for over 2 decades, obinutuzumab plus bendamustine (OB) is also currently regarded as the standard of care since its approval in 2018 in Japan; however, the long-term efficacy and safety of OB in the daily clinical practice has not been thoroughly evaluated.

Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study for the clinical outcome of 53 patients with HTB FL treated by OB as the frontline therapy between 2018 and 2021 in the Kyoto Hematology Clinical Study Group (KOTOSG). All patients had at least 2-year follow-up period.

Altered gut microbiota is linked to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but its association with disease development, disease activity, and post-intervention changes remains unclear. We compared new-onset SLE (NOSLE, n = 25), SLE in remission (RemSLE, n = 30), and healthy controls (HC, n = 30) cross-sectionally and conducted the first longitudinal analysis of NOSLE patients (n = 22) from pre-intervention to remission over 12 months. Significant β-diversity differences were observed in both NOSLE and RemSLE compared to HC, but not between NOSLE and RemSLE.

Background: With the advent of effective chemotherapy, conversion surgery (CS) has been performed in patients who have responded to pretreatment, even for pancreatic cancer diagnosed as unresectable (UR) at the time of initial diagnosis. In CS, major arterial resection and reconstruction are necessary for complete radical resection.

Methods: We discuss the key points for safely performing pancreatectomy with celiac axis (CA) resection combined with reconstruction, divided into resection and arterial reconstruction.

A comprehensive endoscopic small and large intestinal untargeted step biopsy procedure was conducted to compare gene expression between the normal intestinal mucosa of healthy individuals and that of patients with colorectal tumors. From 78 participants (healthy individuals [n = 17], patients with colorectal conventional adenomas [n = 6], patients with Tis-T1 colorectal cancer [n = 41], patients with T2-4 colorectal cancer [n = 14]), biopsies of normal mucosa of the terminal ileum, right-sided colon (cecum and ascending colon), and left-sided colorectum (descending colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum) were obtained using a lower gastrointestinal endoscope. RNA was extracted from all samples, and total transcriptome sequencing was performed.
