Various photoactive molecules contain motifs built on aza-aromatic heterocycles, although a detailed understanding of the excited state photophysics and photochemistry in such systems is not fully developed. To help address this issue, the non-adiabatic dynamics operating in azanaphthalenes under hexane solvation was studied following 267 nm excitation using ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy. Specifically, the species quinoline, isoquinoline, quinazoline, quinoxaline, 1,6-naphthyridine, and 1,8-naphthyridine were investigated, providing a systematic variation in the relative positioning of nitrogen heteroatom centres within a bicyclic aromatic structure.

Early detection and rehabilitation interventions are essential to optimise motor function in infants and young children with unilateral cerebral palsy. In this paper we report a clinical framework aimed at enhancing upper limb therapy for infants and young children with unilateral cerebral palsy during a sensitive period of brain development. We describe two major therapeutic approaches based on motor learning principles and evidence: constraint-induced movement therapy and bimanual therapy.

Hybridization offers insight into speciation and the forces that maintain barriers to reproduction, and hybrid zones provide excellent opportunities to test how environment shapes barriers to reproduction and hybrid fitness. A hybrid zone between the killifish, Fundulus heteroclitus and F. grandis, had been identified in northeastern Florida, although the spatial structure and parameters that affect the distribution of the two species remain unknown.

Background: Population level physical activity generally does not meet recommended targets. Compared with private motor vehicle users, public transport users tend to be more physically active and financial incentives may encourage more public transport use, but these relationships are under-investigated. This paper describes the protocol of a randomised controlled trial that aimed to determine the effect of financially incentivising public transport use on physical activity in a regional Australian setting.
