Simultaneous care provision to patients with small cell lung cancer in Lazio region: Practical recommendations of a multidisciplinary group.

Small-Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) accounts for 15 % of all lung cancer cases. Due to comorbidities and its aggressive behaviour, patients are highly symptomatic even at a non-metastatic stage. Standardizing the care pathway and introducing a simultaneous care approach could address the unmet needs of this disease.

Case report: Metastatic melanoma derived from a somatic-type malignant transformation of a mediastinal teratoma treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.

The treatment of patients affected by a teratoma with somatic-type malignancy (STM) is challenging, since they are characterized by a poor prognosis, due to chemoresistance to standard cisplatin-based regimens. Only five more case reports were described for melanomatous STM and for which there are no data available for efficacy evidences of immune checkpoint inhibitors in this setting. Here we report the case of a patient with an initial diagnosis of mediastinal pure seminoma at the first biopsy.

Bilingual awake craniotomy with English and Polish language mapping in a 15-year-old patient provides evidence for the role of the left superior temporal gyrus in language switching.

The utility of intraoperative mapping in multilingual patients with brain tumours in speech-eloquent locations is evidenced by reports of heterogeneity of the location and number of language areas. Furthermore, preserving the ability to switch between languages is crucial for multilingual patients' communication and quality of life. We report the first case of intraoperative bilingual and language switching testing in a child undergoing awake craniotomy for a tumour within the left superior temporal gyrus using a novel test paradigm.

Vision rehabilitation workforce in Italy: a country-level analysis.

Background: Research and monitoring of human resources available for vision rehabilitation services has been a neglected area of work in the past. This study aims to offer an overview of the vision rehabilitation workforce available in Italy, in order to profile the distribution and number of human resources for vision rehabilitation.

Methods: Data on the available vision rehabilitation professionals were collected from the yearly report on the state of implementation of policies relating to the prevention of blindness, education and vision rehabilitation, according to a law which was passed by the Italian Ministry of Health, Department of Health Prevention.

Status of Health-care Systems for Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetic Retinopathy in Jordan: Stakeholders and Health-care Providers Survey.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the status of health services for diabetes mellitus (DM) and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in Jordan in terms of availability and accessibility by interviewing people engaged with health-care process including decision makers, professional providers, and community representatives.

Methods: This is a qualitative study where participants were invited to respond by direct interview to a standard questionnaire that is validated by the World Health Organization (WHO), "Tool for Assessment of Diabetic Retinopathy and DM Management Systems". The questionnaire casts out of the WHO Health Systems Framework concept, assessing the presence of programs, guidelines, health technology and workforce, health promotion, and financing of DM and DR care in Jordan.
