Lysosomes play a crucial role in metabolic adaptation to starvation, but detailed in vivo studies are scarce. Therefore, we investigated the changes of the proteome of liver lysosomes in mice starved short-term for 6h or long-term for 24h. We verified starvation-induced catabolism by weight loss, ketone body production, drop in blood glucose and an increase of 3-methylhistidine.

Case: A 23-year-old man presented with a right upper limb injury after a 10-m fall. Initial evaluation demonstrated a terrible triad elbow injury associated with a trans-scaphoid perilunate dislocation. Elbow stabilization with radial head replacement and carpal fixation was performed.

Anencephaly, a severe neural tube defect characterized by the absence of major parts of the brain and skull, is a rare congenital disorder that has been observed in various species, including cats. Considering the uncommon appearance of anencephaly, this paper aims to present anencephaly in a stillborn male kitten from an accidental inbreeding using various paraclinical methods. Histological examination of tissue samples from the cranial region, where parts of the skull were absent, revealed the presence of atypical nerve tissue with neurons and glial cells organized in clusters, surrounded by an extracellular matrix and with an abundance of blood vessels, which are large, dilated, and filled with blood, not characteristic of nerve tissue structure.

Mesothelioma is classified into three histological subtypes, epithelioid, sarcomatoid, and biphasic, according to the relative proportions of epithelioid and sarcomatoid tumor cells present. Current guidelines recommend that the sarcomatoid component of each mesothelioma is quantified, as a higher percentage of sarcomatoid pattern in biphasic mesothelioma shows poorer prognosis. In this work, we develop a dual-task graph neural network (GNN) architecture with ranking loss to learn a model capable of scoring regions of tissue down to cellular resolution.
