The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (Anses) has set up a multidisciplinary working group (WG) to develop an innovative One Health approach for the monitoring and evaluation of an integrated vector management system (IVMS) on a territorial scale. Four existing evaluation guidelines and methods have been combined into a semi-quantitative evaluation approach that takes into account all the dimensions of an integrated process. We propose a set of 34 criteria divided into three sections (objectives and management, implementation, integration) that correspond to the main functional components of an IVMS.

Success in the national control of malaria during the past decades has led to the reorientation of Thailand's program toward the elimination of this disease. The country established and implemented a National Malaria Elimination Strategy, resulting in a substantial decline in cases. Although the reduction varied, Sisaket Province stands out as a success.

Background: The Anopheles dirus complex plays a significant role as a malaria vector in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), with varying degrees of vector competence among species. Accurate identification of sibling species in this complex is essential for understanding malaria transmission dynamics and deploying effective vector control measures. However, the original molecular identification assay, Dirus allele-specific polymerase chain reaction (AS-PCR), targeting the ITS2 region, has pronounced nonspecific amplifications leading to ambiguous results and misidentification of the sibling species.

There is an increased awareness of the importance of data publication, data sharing, and open science to support research, monitoring and control of vector-borne disease (VBD). Here we describe the efforts of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) as well as the World Health Special Programme on Research and Training in Diseases of Poverty (TDR) to promote publication of data related to vectors of diseases. In 2020, a GBIF task group of experts was formed to provide advice and support efforts aimed at enhancing the coverage and accessibility of data on vectors of human diseases within GBIF.
