Investigation of Gamma-Ray Shielding Properties of Bismuth Oxide Nanoparticles with a Bentonite-Gypsum Matrix.

Due to the present industrial world, the risk of radioactivity is notably increasing. Thus, an appropriate shielding material needs to be designed to protect humans and the environment against radiation. In view of this, the present study aims to design new composites of the main matrix of bentonite-gypsum with a low-cost, abundant, and natural matrix.

Terbinafine hydrochloride oral granules versus oral griseofulvin suspension in children with tinea capitis: results of two randomized, investigator-blinded, multicenter, international, controlled trials.

Background: Although griseofulvin is currently considered the primary antifungal agent used to treat tinea capitis in many countries, increasingly higher doses and longer durations of treatment are becoming necessary to achieve effective treatment. Alternative antifungal therapies with shorter/simpler treatment regimens may be important to develop for this indication.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of a new pediatric formulation of terbinafine hydrochloride oral granules with griseofulvin oral suspension in the treatment of tinea capitis.

Acute sporadic non-A, non-B hepatitis in a pediatric population living in Cairo, Egypt.

One-hundred and four cases of acute viral hepatitis and 100 controls 13 years of age and less were entered into a study of acute hepatitis in children in Cairo, Egypt. Study subjects, who were mainly from a lower socioeconomic level, were selected from a public pediatric clinic. Acute non-A, non-B hepatitis was diagnosed in 51 (49%) patients, hepatitis A in 46 (44%), possible hepatitis B in three (3%), and EBV hepatitis in four (4%) patients.
