Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been detected in multiple animal species, including white-tailed deer (WTD), raising concerns about zoonotic transmission, particularly in environments with frequent human interactions. To understand how human exposure influences SARS-CoV-2 infection in WTD, we compared infection and exposure prevalence between farmed and free-ranging deer populations in Florida. We also examined the timing and viral variants in WTD relative to those in Florida's human population.

The spleen and kidney were obtained from a rodent (cotton mouse) found dead in the city of Gainesville, in North-Central Florida, USA. Jeilongviruses are paramyxoviruses of the subfamily that have been found in bats, cats, and rodents.

While cardiomyopathy can occur with Tbt treatment after anthracycline exposure, Tbt-induced fulminant myocardial cytotoxic injury in the setting of other systemic cytotoxicity associated with Tbt has not been reported.
Case Presentation: 51-year-old female with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, metastatic leiomyosarcoma with progression of disease despite several lines of chemotherapy including doxorubicin-based therapy was started on Trabectedin (Tbt) 5 days prior to presentation with symptoms of fever, myalgias, arthralgias, and palpitations.
Understanding the epidemiology and transmission dynamics of transboundary animal diseases (TADs) among wild pigs () will aid in preventing the introduction or containment of TADs among wild populations. Given the challenges associated with studying TADs in free-ranging populations, a surrogate pathogen system may predict how pathogens may circulate and be maintained within wild free-ranging swine populations, how they may spill over into domestic populations, and how management actions may impact transmission. We assessed the suitability of Torque teno sus virus 1 (TTSuV1) to serve as a surrogate pathogen for molecular epidemiological studies in wild pigs by investigating the prevalence, persistence, correlation with host health status and genetic variability at two study areas: Archbold's Buck Island Ranch in Florida and Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
