MICAL2 Promotes Pancreatic Cancer Growth and Metastasis.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains one of the deadliest solid cancers; thus, identifying more effective therapies is a major unmet need. In this study, we characterized the super enhancer (SE) landscape of human PDAC to identify drivers of the disease that might be targetable. This analysis revealed MICAL2 as a super enhancer-associated gene in human PDAC, which encodes the flavin monooxygenase MICAL2 that induces actin depolymerization and indirectly promotes SRF transcription by modulating the availability of serum response factor coactivators myocardin-related transcription factors (MRTF-A and MRTF-B).

Comparing between newly diagnosed, ART-naive people living with HIV and HIV-uninfected adults in Tanzania: clues for cardiovascular disease prevention.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents a major cause of premature mortality in people living with HIV (PLWH). There is a need to characterize the cardiovascular health profiles of PLWH to appropriately guide primary prevention efforts, particularly in settings like Sub-Saharan Africa, where there is a high burden of HIV and limited resources. A cross-sectional analysis was conducted on a cohort of newly diagnosed PLWH and HIV-uninfected adults recruited from three HIV clinics in Mwanza, Tanzania.

Pain Management in Fibromyalgia: Evaluating the Roles of Pregabalin, Duloxetine, and Milnacipran.

Introduction Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. The purpose of this study was to compare how well duloxetine, pregabalin, and milnacipran worked for fibromyalgia patients in terms of pain management, quality of life, and sleep quality. Methodology A prospective cohort research study with 193 fibromyalgia patients was carried out at the Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences, Muzaffarabad, Pakistan.

Device profile of the Mobi-C artificial cervical disc: an overview of its safety and efficacy.

Introduction: The Mobi-C Cervical Disc Replacement is a motion preserving alternative to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion in properly indicated patients. In 2013, Mobi-C became the first cervical disc in the United States approved to treat more than one level of the cervical spine. The FDA determined Mobi-C to be statistically superior to fusion at 2 levels, based on the primary endpoint of a prospective, concurrently controlled and randomized multicenter clinical trial.

Outcomes of maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) by dentofacial class: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

The aim of this paper was to systematically review and compare the Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index (AHI), Lowest O Saturation (LSAT), Oxygen Desaturation Index (ODI), Epworth Sleep Scale (ESS), and Body Mass Index (BMI) between dentofacial (skeletal) classes I, II, and III before and after maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). The PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL databases were searched from inception to 23 November 2022. Two reviewers screened for articles that reported occlusion/malocclusion class type as I, II, or III, and reported preoperative and postoperative AHI, LSAT, ODI, ESS, and/or BMI.
