Thirteen children with xeroderma pigmentosum variant C were evaluated using the Dermoscopic Photoaging Assessment Scale (DPAS), the Glogau scale, and the Sun Protection Behavior Scale (SPBS). Most patients exhibited signs of epidermal photoaging, with pigmentary and vascular changes and poor sun protection behavior (mean SPBS score: 18.92 ± 5.

Article Synopsis
  • Monoamine oxidase (MAO) is important for breaking down neurotransmitters and is a potential target for treating neurodegenerative diseases like depression and Alzheimer's.
  • The study examined chromone-based compounds to see how effectively they inhibit MAO-A and MAO-B, identifying several promising derivatives through molecular docking techniques.
  • A quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model was developed to predict the effectiveness of these compounds, showing strong validation with experimental data and highlighting key molecular features that enhance their inhibitory effects.

Article Synopsis
  • Acute alcohol poisoning from methanol is a significant public health issue, especially in areas with illegal alcohol production, leading to high mortality and long-term health problems.
  • A study analyzed 198 autopsy records in Hyderabad, revealing that most victims were young to middle-aged men, particularly between 31-40 years, with fatal blood methanol levels.
  • The findings highlight the need for stricter alcohol regulations, greater public awareness, and better medical approaches to recognize and treat methanol poisoning.

Background: Exhumation of bodies for forensic purposes serves as a pivotal tool in medico-legal investigations, yet there is scant data on the practice within the Pakistani context, particularly in the District of Hyderabad. Aim & Objective were to investigate the prevalence and outcomes of exhumations in Hyderabad, contributing to the knowledge base and understanding the cultural and legal factors influencing post-mortem examinations.

Methods: A descriptive, observational, and retrospective analysis of 95 medicolegal exhumations carried out over two years, examining demographic data, the interval between death and exhumation, putrefactive changes, and the determination of the cause of death.

Background: Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is a genodermatosis, characterized both by premature aging and significantly increased risk of non-melanoma and melanoma skin cancers at an early age. However, limited literature is available on the common histopathological subtypes of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in these patients.

Methods: In this ambispective case series, we recruited patients of XP who had either a currently present skin tumor or previously excised one, provided their histopathological sections were available.
