Spatial variation in livelihood security among livestock-based agricultural farming systems in climatically vulnerable Indian Sundarbans.

Farm households in the UNESCO World Heritage site Sundarbans face serious problems, including increased soil salinity, frequent extreme weather events, seawater intrusion and flood damage, all of which cause distress to the livelihoods of the farm families. Policymakers commonly acknowledge livestock as a crucial resource for mitigating economic losses caused by crop failures due to extreme weather events. Despite Sundarbans' vulnerability to extreme weather events, smallholder farmers' livelihoods vary across the region.

Yield gap in milk production is considerable in Indian Himalayan state of Meghalaya.

Yield gaps in milk production are here defined as the differentials between the actual yield obtained by the dairy farmer and the potential farm yield (production achieved by the top 10% of farmers: Gap 2) as well as the differential between this potential farm yield and the yield registered in the research stations (Gap 1). Assessment of yield gaps provides valuable information on potential production enhancement and drivers behind yield gaps. Milk production can be increased by narrowing the predominant large yield gaps in resource-poor smallholder farming system.

Complex cardiac vascular malformation: Natures own CABG.

True cardiac arteriovenous malformations are rare anomalies that may be acquired or congenital in origin. These anomalies are well demonstrated by Multi Detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) with much higher clarity and anatomic detail than invasive angiography. We report a case of large complex cardiac vascular malformation in 55 year old male involving feeders from systemic (internal mammary artery, right inferior phrenic artery), coronary (left anterior descending), and pulmonary arterial and venous systems using a 64 slice MDCT scanner.

Association between dietary habits and body mass index of adolescent females in intermediate schools in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Obesity among Saudi youth is a growing public health challenge. This cross-sectional study measured body mass index (BMI) and determined the eating habits and lifestyle of 107 randomly selected female adolescent students (age 12-15 years) at schools in Riyadh. The students' heights and weights were measured and a pre-tested questionnaire was used to collect data on diet and lifestyle.

Background: This study was conducted to assess the bleeding pattern, tolerance and patient satisfaction associated with an oral contraceptive (OC) containing 3 mg of drospirenone and 30 mcg of ethinyl estradiol under real-life conditions.

Study Design: A multicenter, prospective and observational six-cycle study was conducted in 12 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Canada. The efficacy variables included an assessment of bleeding patterns, premenstrual symptoms of water retention and patient satisfaction as determined by a visual analog scale.
