Objectives: To compare the total medical costs associated with operative versus non-operative medical procedures for femoral neck fractures in older adults with Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined 4,157 Optum beneficiaries diagnosed with AD who filed an initial claim for femoral neck fracture between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2017. Generalized linear regression with Gamma log link function was performed to evaluate total medical costs between surgical treatment and non-operative care while controlling for covariates.

How burning affects prokaryotic community composition across different soil profiles is not well understood. In the light of the escalating prevalence of the use of these products and their potential for long-term health effects, in this study as the first of its kind a comprehensive toxicological profiling of the liquid from a panel of unregulated e-cigarettes seized in the UK was undertaken using an in vitro co-culture model of the upper airways. The data showed that e-cigarettes caused a dose dependent increase in cell death and inflammation manifested by enhanced release of IL1ß and IL6.
