This study utilizes an all-payer database to compare 90-d and 1-year outcomes between marijuana and non-marijuana users undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). The primary aim of this study focused on 90-d and 1-year opioid consumption among marijuana users and non-users who underwent THA. Our secondary aim focused on comparing 90-d and 1-year rates of readmissions, revisions and adverse events between the two groups.

Acute kidney failure from ingestion of "wood bleach" beekeeping miticide.

Wood bleach is >95 % oxalic acid formulation used off-label as a miticide for Varroa mites by hobbyist beekeepers. Wood bleach (oxalic acid) ingestions are poorly documented in the medical literature. A 46-year-old man presented to the emergency department nauseated and vomiting after accidentally ingesting "bleach and grain ethanol intended for use in beekeeping.

Measurement-Based Care as a Tool to Detect and Prevent Harm in Youth Psychotherapy.

Measurement-based care (MBC), the use of routine assessment to guide clinical decision-making, has the potential to significantly enhance the quality of mental health services for youth by improving the detection and prevention of harm. Concerns exist, however, that widespread efforts to implement MBC may have a negative impact on youth mental health care. We explore both perspectives by describing how MBC can be leveraged as a tool to detect and prevent harmful treatment in youth and how misapplication of MBC also has the potential to cause harm.

Coparenting Quality During COVID-19: Exploring Gender Differences Using a Mixed Methods Approach.

The aim of this study was to examine potential differences in coparenting quality during the COVID-19 pandemic among mothers and fathers using an embedded mixed methods approach. The objectives were to compare mothers' and fathers' scores on the Coparenting Relationship Scale among 150 mother-father dyads, and to examine mothers' and fathers' perceptions of how COVID-19 influenced their coparenting quality using thematic analysis of 159 mothers' and 75 fathers' responses to an open-ended coparenting survey question. While total coparenting quality scores did not differ among mothers and fathers, fathers had significantly higher scores on the division of labour and endorsement subscales, and mothers had significantly higher scores on the undermining subscale.
