A 72-year-old man presented with actinic keratosis (AK) of the scalp confirmed by line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) a novel non-invasive skin imaging technique. Patient was treated with Tirbanibulin 1% ointment once a day for 5 consecutive days and, after 8 days from baseline, mild erythema and desquamation was observed on the treated area, associated with mild pruritus. At the same time-point, L'LC-OCT revealed the presence of intraepidermal "targeted-like" cells, corresponding to apoptotic keratinocytes.

Microaggressions in health care occur frequently and negatively impact the well-being of trainees. High-realism simulation can effectively train health care providers to communicate in emotionally difficult situations. In 2023, we developed and piloted 4 simulation scenarios for pediatric residents centered on addressing microaggressions in the clinical environment that built on an existing didactic curriculum.

In bovine embryos, the microRNA (miRNA) expression has been profiled at each stage of early development in vitro. The miRNAomic analysis of spent media has the potential to reveal characteristics of embryo health; however, applications are limited without categorizing miRNA profiles by embryo quality. Time-lapse imaging has shown the timing of embryo development in vitro may be indicative of their developmental potential.

Translation is one of the main gene expression steps targeted by cellular stress, commonly referred to as translational stress, which includes treatment with anticancer drugs. While translational stress blocks the translation initiation of bulk mRNAs, it nonetheless activates the translation of specific mRNAs known as short upstream open reading frames (uORFs)-mRNAs. Among these, the ATF4 mRNA encodes a transcription factor that reprograms gene expression in cells responding to various stresses.

Purpose: In this paper, we present a novel approach to the automatic evaluation of open surgery skills using depth cameras. This work is intended to show that depth cameras achieve similar results to RGB cameras, which is the common method in the automatic evaluation of open surgery skills. Moreover, depth cameras offer advantages such as robustness to lighting variations, camera positioning, simplified data compression, and enhanced privacy, making them a promising alternative to RGB cameras.
