Cereal grain develops from fertilised florets. Alterations in floret and grain development greatly influence grain yield and quality. Despite this, little is known about the underlying genetic control of these processes, especially in key temperate cereals such as barley and wheat.

Two cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Dutch military personnel treated with oral miltefosine.

Introduction: In the Netherlands, cutaneous leishmaniasis is most commonly seen in military personnel deployed on a mission or training abroad. The treatment of two Dutch soldiers who acquired cutaneous leishmaniasis with oral miltefosine was evaluated. Adverse effects were monitored and the improvement of skin lesions was assessed.

Anogenital warts: influence on quality of life in Dutch soldiers.

Background: Anogenital warts are one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted virus infections in the Netherlands and cause frustration, shame, and even depression. This study was performed to determine the effect of having anogenital warts on the quality of life in Dutch soldiers with the use of a dermatology-specific quality of life (QoL) questionnaire.

Methods: We used the Skindex-29 QoL questionnaire in 100 predominantly heterosexual soldiers with clinically confirmed first episode of condylomata acuminate in this study.
